X-ray spectra of Seyfert-type AGN observed with EXOSAT.
Abstract
The Exosat survey of broadband X-ray spectra of AGNs is examined, focusing on the spectral data for Seyfert-type galaxies. The canonical power law spectra, the detection of separate soft components, low energy absorption, and spectral variability are considered. It is found that the great majority of the Seyfert-type AGNs are consistent with a canonical power law spectrum slope of alpha equals 0.72 + or - 0.12.
